Sam Locke

Was the only amateur to survive the 36-hole Final Qualifying in 2018 and then the only amateur to make the cut at Carnoustie, thus earning him the Silver Medal.

Turned professional immediately afterwards and, ranked 1,750th in the world, came through Final Qualifying again at Fairmont St Andrews in 2019 with rounds of 69 and 67 for the third and final spot on offer at Royal Portrush, where he missed the cut.

Locke is an honorary member of both Banchory and Stonehaven after his victory in the 2017 Scottish Amateur Championship, where he emulated the achievement of Colin Montgomerie 30 years earlier by winning the final 9&8
