The field for The 149th Open has been set after the final five places were secured on Sunday.
Three different tournaments in the week before the Championship offered exemptions into Royal St George’s.
Marcel Siem was the first to secure his spot – and a return to The Open for the first time since 2015 – when he won the Challenge Tour’s Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge. Siem will celebrate his 41st birthday on Thursday when the Championship begins.
At the European Tour’s abrdn Scottish Open, Min Woo Lee triumphed in a play-off to earn his maiden Open appearance as the leading player not already exempt. The other two places went to Thomas Detry - another Open debutant - and Jack Senior.
Ryan Moore opted not to take up the exemption he earned by finishing tied-second behind Lucas Glover at the John Deere Classic. As a result, the final spot in The 149th Open field went to Adam Long, who was the next player on the reserve list. Like Lee and Detry, Long will now play in The Open for the first time.
