Radio broadcast to provide live coverage for the first time

The Claret Jug at Royal Troon

Final Qualifying for The 152nd Open will break new ground with the first radio broadcast of its kind to provide live coverage of all the thrills and spills.

One of the most nerve-shredding and captivating days in the golfing calendar will be covered live on air for the first time, focusing on the dramatic closing stages as 288 players battle it out for places at Royal Troon.

Among the notable names hoping to advance are major winners Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia, with a minimum of 16 qualifying places available.

Last year produced one of the great Final Qualifying stories as Matthew Jordan advanced to his home club of Royal Liverpool, where he would hit the first shot of The 151st Open.

Rob Lee, Jamie Spence and Felicity Johnson will guide listeners through all of this year's talking points from the studio, together with on-course reporters at each of the four FQ venues - Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire.

The programme stats from 3pm BST on R&A TV and www.theopen.com/final-qualifying, with live updates on the key developments, plus reaction from qualifiers making it the best way to follow all the action on a day full of drama.
