Official yardages released for The 152nd Open

The par-5 6th hole at Royal Troon

The 152nd Open at Royal Troon will feature the longest hole in the Championship’s history.

The official card of the course has been released, providing confirmation that the par-5 6th will play to 623 yards – 22 yards longer than when Troon last hosted The Open in 2016.

A new record for the longest hole in Open history had been set last year when the 15th hole at Royal Liverpool was extended to 620 yards, but that mark will now be surpassed this year.

Troon is already the venue that features the shortest hole played at an Open, with its iconic 8th hole – the Postage Stamp – measuring just 123 yards.

Weather permitting, a forward tee and front pin position could be utilised on the hole this year to take that yardage down to just 99. When the hole was played at 95 yards in the third round of the 2020 AIG Women’s Open, it yielded a scoring average of exactly 3.

The full card of the course for The 152nd Open can be seen below, with the full par-71 layout set to measure 7,385 yards, an increase of 195 yards from Troon's most recent Open in 2016.
