Adam Hadwin poses with the Claret Jug and a pin flag after qualifying for The 152nd Open at the Memorial Tournament

Adam Hadwin earned his place at The 152nd Open courtesy of a third-place finish in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.

The Canadian led after round one of the latest event in The Open Qualifying Series, but finished on four-under-par, four strokes behind eventual winner Scottie Scheffler. Collin Morikawa, the Champion Golfer of 2021, was the runner-up.

Hadwin’s performance in Ohio helped him climb 24 places in the FedEx Cup standings, while he has also given his Olympics prospects a boost with the qualification window drawing to a close.

He said: “I take a lot of positives away from this week. I can compete with some of the best players in the world on a very difficult golf course.

“I’m proud of the way I battled.”

Hadwin made his Open debut at Royal Birkdale in 2017. His best performance came at Carnoustie following year when he finished T35.

The 152nd Open will be staged at Royal Troon between 18-21 July.

The next events in The Open Qualifying Series are the KOLON Korea Open and the KLM Open, taking place from 20-23 June.
