Battled his way into a play-off when 72 players competed for only four Royal Troon places in the 36-hole Final Qualifying at Burnham and Berrow on July 2.

The 26-year-old, ranked 801st in the world, was up against two former top-30 players in Abraham Ancer and Anirban Lahiri with two of the three going through – and it was Lahiri who missed out with a bogey on the first extra hole.

Lindh was a three-time winner on the Nordic League last season and also had two top-five finishes on the European Challenge Tour before coming through the Asian Tour qualifying school, but Troon will be not only his major debut, but also only his second appearance on the DP World Tour stage.

His first was the Made in Himmerland tournament in Denmark last July, when he fired a second-round 66 but still missed the halfway cut.
