Was the talk of Royal Troon last summer when he began his Open debut with a bogey-free six-under-par 65 to lead the field.

This came on a day when five former Champion Golfers were among the 12 players who failed to break 80.

Daniel Brown, who was ranked 272nd in the world at the time, endeared himself to the crowds and stayed in contention through the weekend. He went into Sunday tied for second before a final round 74 saw him finish in a share of 10th, earning his place at Royal Portrush in the process.

A winner on the DP World Tour at the 2023 ISPS Handa World Invitational – and a former holder of the English Amateur title – he made it into The 152nd Open at Royal Troon through Final Qualifying at West Lancashire, sinking a 20-foot putt to seal the deal.
