Brown’s bogey-free 65 gave him the Thursday advantage and he remained in contention through the weekend, heading into Sunday tied for second before a final round 74 saw him finish in a share of 10th.
His run endeared himself to the crowds in Ayrshire and he was there having come through Final Qualifying at West Lancashire, a closing 20-foot putt sealing the deal and helping him avoid a play-off.
The former English amateur champion’s first DP World Tour title came by five strokes at the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland in 2023.
