America’s captain at the 2018 Ryder Cup in France made it back into The Open the following year after a climb back into the world top 50.
His ascent came mainly thanks to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Players Championship in Florida, where he finished a single stroke behind Rory McIlroy.
Became the first player in PGA Tour history to shoot a round of 58 at the 2016 Travelers Championship. Already one of only six men to have had a 59 to his name, Furyk recorded 10 birdies and an eagle, after which he joked: "I've got like 300 pictures at home with 59 on them. Gotta throw all that crap away now.”
Four fourth-place finishes at The Open are among 23 top 10s in majors, his one victory coming at the 2003 US Open. Has three times been a runner-up in the same event since then, most recently Oakmont in 2016, and also came second at the 2013 PGA Championship.
Second to Tiger Woods on the world rankings for a spell, he played in nine Ryder Cups and seven Presidents Cups. Furyk was named as one of Zach Johnson's vice-captains for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy.
Victory at the 2010 Tour Championship also landed him the $10million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup play-off series.
