Casey achieved his best finish in a major to date, at the age of 43, when he was joint runner-up behind Collin Morikawa at the 2020 PGA Championship and was joint-fourth in the same event last May.
That followed a return to Europe’s Ryder Cup side in 2018 after a 10-year gap, achieving a fourball win alongside Tyrrell Hatton and a singles half with soon-to-be world No. 1 Brooks Koepka. Casey then kept his place for September’s match at Whistling Straits.
At the 2018 Valspar Championship, Casey held off Tiger Woods for his first PGA Tour win since 2009, then made a successful defence the following year to be on the verge of re-entering the world’s top 10, having slumped from third in 2009 to 169th.
Joint third in the 2010 Open at St Andrews, Casey then made the decision to base himself in America and has since had three top-six finishes in The Masters. Fifteen DP World Tour titles include the 2021 Omega Dubai Desert Classic and 2009 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the course where he captured the 2006 HSBC World Match Play title a week before he became the only player ever to win a Ryder Cup game with a hole-in-one.
He was also a partner of Luke Donald as they enjoyed success in both the Walker Cup and World Cup.
