Having previously come through Final Qualifying for The Open in 2021 and 2022, Mansell sealed his spot for Royal Troon at the last minute when he sensationally claimed one of the three spots up for grabs at the Genesis Scottish Open.
A stunning 61 on the final day vaulted Mansell into a tie for 10th, enough to secure an Open return with the majority of the players above him already exempt.
He made a spectacular start to his European Tour career in 2020. In only his second tournament he was runner-up to Joel Stalter at the Euram Bank Open in Austria – an event played in the week that The Open was scheduled for until the pandemic caused a one-year postponement.
He might even have won it, missing a one-foot putt to tie the lead on the 15th, bogeying the next and losing by two.
While at Nova Southeastern University in Florida he represented Europe in the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup college match against the United States.
Viktor Hovland was a teammate and Collin Morikawa among the opposition.
