Came within touching distance of a 59 at May’s AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas. Needing a closing eagle he had to settle for birdie, but the Colombian’s 12 under par round made him the first player in PGA Tour history to have two 60s in the same season.

The other came in November’s RSM Classic and he went on to finish third in both tournaments. His sole victory on the circuit remains the 2019 Sanderson Farms Championship, where he defeated Sungjae Im in a play-off.

Munoz’s career also includes a 61 at the 2017 Greenbrier Classic. That was another third place finish and as part of The Open Qualifying Series it earned him his first major championship start.

A week earlier he had missed the cut on the Web.com Tour to be 410th on the world rankings, so it was a remarkable change in fortunes. He won two tournaments while at the University of North Texas and then came two victories on the Latinoamerica Tour and on home soil in 2016 the Web.com circuit’s Club Colombia Championship.

hat helped him finish 22nd on their money list and promotion to the PGA Tour.
