American Han returned to the country of his birth to earn his first Open Championship start with an impressive six-stroke victory in the Kolon Korea Open on June 25.
Two places at Royal Liverpool were on offer as part of The Open Qualifying Series and the 36-year-old, who moved to the United States when he was 13, was the only player to finish under par.
It was his second title in South Korea, but also counted as his first victory on the Asian Tour, while in 2017 he captured the Japan Tour’s Casio World Open.
He also lost the first of two play-offs on that circuit that year and with three third places as well finished fifth on their money list.
The former University of Nevada student, who turned professional in 2009 after earning a place on the Nationwide Tour in the States, reached a high of 78th in the world in 2018 and on his major debut that season came joint 50th in the PGA Championship.
His Korea Open success came, however, with him 634th on the rankings.
