Hospitality at The Open

Pupils from the boarding schools of Charterhouse and Cranleigh manually operated the two leaderboards at the 18th green from 1979. Assisted by real-time digital scorekeeping, the students changed the names, scores and positions by hand. For four decades, posting a leaderboard update first was a true matter of pride.
